Woman brit with 17 STONE legs reveals that they are finally shrinking - and now weighs 11-STONEMandy Sellars suffers from a condition that means it has a superior-body threesome-10 size, but huge feet and legs but doctors have struggled to diagnose what is wrong Get email updates with the biggest stories of the day A woman whose legs grew at 17 stones due to a rare disease has said how they are finally getting 11 stones. Mandy Sellars was born with legs and feet five times his normal size and has fought since childhood the unusual condition. It means that the age of 41 years is a threesome-10 superior body size, but huge feet and legs. He was forced to have it after contracting septicemia, but he was surprised when the member. Now, thanks to a pioneer drug, almost six stones have been spilled from the lower body of the former volunteer. "It felt like a miracle, I couldn't believe it when I lost a stone after just five months on drugs, my legs were getting bummed," he said. "I am comfortable in my own skin, and proud of my condition and who I am." With unconcerned doctors about his condition, Mandy, of Accrington, Lancashire, tried to live a normal life going to school, to college and studying psychology at the University of Lancashire Central as his legs continued to grow. Life was a challenge for Miss. Sealings, but she was mobile. But he was soon warned that amputation could be the only way to prevent his legs from slipping. With her legs weighing 17 stones, in 2010 Miss Sellars began to develop serious infections and amputation was the only option to prevent her from being killed. But months after going under the knife at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, doctors were surprised to see that the leg had begun to grow – and within two years it was a subway in circumference. "They were measuring me in the hospital for a prosthetic leg that they noticed that I had already grown," he recalled. "I felt helpless. My body was taking over my life and I felt there was nothing I could do about it. "I felt that in a short period of time I could become tied to bed and my life could end for me as my leg continued to grow." Two years later in 2012, after endless tests, doctors finally told Miss. Sealings that believed that their condition was caused by a mutation in the PIK3CA gene that causes excessive growth in the skin, bone, fat and tissue. He was on the moon, he said. I never thought of my life that someone would be able to find out what my condition was. "I felt I had been waiting all my life for that diagnosis, just to know what it was that made me like me. "When I was offered a test medication, to try to reduce my leg, I went for it. They never offered me anything before that could stop the condition or shrink it." For the last two years he lost six stones of his legs and now, despite being at home, he finds himself mobile around his house much more manageable. My life has changed a lot, he said. "It's easier to move, just simple things like getting into bed and doing things for myself. "I'm happy, not only because my leg is shrinking, but because I feel more like myself. I feel like I'm really going in the right direction." Miss. Sealings still have specially made clothes and shoes due to their size and drives a specially adapted car. Doctors are not sure if your legs will continue to shrink, but Miss. Sellars has a positive attitude. "People say 'I don't know how they face', but I'm taking advantage of what I'm capable of doing and feeling who I am. I'm proud to be me. Follow us
